Today, Monday 7 June, we’re recognising World Food Safety Day – a day to educate and inspire action to help prevent and manage food risks.

Unsafe food containing harmful bacteria and viruses can cause more than 200 diseases – from diarrhoea to cancers. An estimated 600 million people fall ill after eating contaminated food each year, with sadly 420,000 dying.

We can all play our part in minimising the risk – this Food Safety factsheet provides more information about food safety issues and how you can help prevent illness. It also includes tips about ways to further improve food safety across our business and how to be food safe at home.
