As part of Greencore’s ongoing commitment to work with local schools and to mark International Women’s Day, Greencore Selby ran two careers-based events in local schools, led by female colleagues to help to inspire the students.

Starting with an initial idea from our Business Unit Director, Catherine Bradshaw, the team worked with the site education partners, NYBEP, to identify local schools that were able to host this event and created an interactive session for some of our colleagues to deliver.

The sessions brought together a diverse group of female Greencore Selby colleagues who shared their personal career journeys with the girls and then shared their life experience as part of a question and answer session.  Catherine led with an outline of what Greencore does and then each colleague in turn gave the girls a summary of their own personal career journey.

The schools that were chosen to host this event were very different from each other.  Holy Family school in Carlton is a mainstream secondary school whilst the Rubicon Centre is a Pupil Referral Unit for students who have been excluded from mainstream education.  Both schools were very grateful to us for coming in with the aim of inspiring their female students and we had some great feedback from both schools.
