Greencore Product Development Controller, Kelly Merry, together with some colleagues represented Greencore at a careers event at Penistone Grammar School in January.

In the first session Kelly and Emma Taylor, also a Greencore Product Development Controller, told the students about their career journey and what got them into food design.

After the initial session, the students broke out into two groups of 50, where Kelly and Emma were joined by two more Greencore colleagues, Rebecca and Megan. After a more in-depth presentations, they each student was asked to come up with a product and packaging design for a new sandwich product that would be fit for the King’s coronation. During the judging, the students also took part in a blind chutney tasting activity.

The activities were very well received, and they gave the students a real flavour of what it’s like to work in product development at Greencore.
