During National Careers Week and in support of International Women’s Day, colleagues from the Greencore site in Selby organised a careers activity alongside local education providers. Martin Brooks, our site L&D Coordinator, worked with the NYBEP Ltd, Selby College and The Rubicon Centre to create an interactive session, providing students with the opportunity to find out about the varied career journeys of some of our female colleagues.

The students were also given an insight into some of the barriers our female colleagues may have faced throughout their careers and how they have worked to overcome these. There was also a question and answer session for the students.

Whilst all the schools we support are important, the Rubicon Centre is particularly important as a specialist school that provides education for young teenagers, who for various reasons cannot attend mainstream schools. The curriculum in this centre is heavily vocationally based, so this provided the students with an insight in to career journeys that involved vocational learning and development rather than traditional academic routes.

Thank you to all of our colleagues for supporting this initiative.
