The sun was shining at Greencore Food to Go in Northampton on Thursday 10th September as members of our M&S Café team joined up with colleagues from Greencore to take part in a charity car wash. With 54 cars being given the VIP treatment, the event which lasted four hours raised over £5,140 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

There was even an M&S mobile store on hand providing complimentary food and drink for the drivers of the cars taking part and the hardworking staff involved. Commercial Graduate for Greencore, Richard Byrne-Price, who arranged the event said, “The car wash has been a huge success and it has been a real team effort, we are delighted with the turnout of our colleagues…and the sun!”

M&S Food Buyer for Café, Dee Dutt added; “We have been supporting Macmillan for a number of years and we thought the car wash was a great idea. We rise to a challenge and the whole of the team have got involved and it’s great doing something different together.

Tom Rawlinson, Project Manager for Macmillan in M&S explains why the charity is an important and worthy cause, “Macmillan resonates with our customers, we raised £1.3 million last year and are hoping to smash that figure this year, and the £5,140 raised by the carwash will help us towards reaching this goal.”
