A team from the Greencore site in Northampton has been raising money for the Cynthia Spencer Hospice over the last couple of months by taking part in the Franklins £50 Challenge. It was recently announced that they had won the challenge by raising over £10,000!
The team were given £50 and had to use this to invest in fundraising ideas to raise as much money as possible, competing against another 13 teams in Northampton. They did this by organising a series of events which included making and selling pancakes for Pancake Day, washing cars, organising a cake sale, exercise classes and a quiz night, along with being sponsored for a couple of running events.
One team member, James Aron, raised over £5,000 in sponsorship in the challenge period and picked up his own award for the most money raised from a single event. James is attempting to run 1,000 miles in 2018 and has so far ran 385 miles, so he’s well on target to smash this challenge!
Greencore picked up three awards in total:
  • £50 Challenge Champions
  • Most Raised from a Single Event – James Aron
  • Best Team Name – Marks and Cynthia Spencer
In total the Franklins £50 Challenge raised almost £49k for Cynthia Spencer Hospice and Willen Hospice.
