Next Friday, 25th September, socially distanced or virtually, join the nation to celebrate the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning with Macmillan, to support those living with cancer.

We all know someone who has been affected by cancer in some way. Age and gender don’t make us immune, but early detection can save lives. If something doesn’t feel quite right, it’s important not to put off getting it checked.

Did you know these cancer statistics?

  • There are approximately 367,000 new cancer cases in the UK every year, that’s around 1,000 every day
  • More than 1 in 3 people will develop some form of cancer in their lifetime
  • 38% of cancer cases are preventable
  • Since the early 1990s, incidence rates for all cancers combined have increased by more than a tenth (12%) in the UK
  • UK cancer cases are ranked higher than 90% of the world
  • Smoking is the largest cause of cancer in the UK, accounting for 15% of all cancer cases
