The past 12 months has been a year like no other and one that I really hope none of us have to experience again. That said, I have never been prouder to be CEO of Greencore. What our teams have delivered in 2020 has been outstanding. The personal sacrifices colleagues have made to keep our people safe, to keep Britain fed and to protect our business has been truly humbling and has highlighted our true spirit.
Each and every one of you has played a fundamental role in supporting Greencore through this extremely challenging time. Whether you have worked throughout the pandemic, either from our sites and depots or from home, or by supporting us on furlough, I have been blown away by the commitment and resilience you have shown and we would not be where we are today without your support. Thank you.
Sadly during the year, a number of our colleagues have been personally impacted by this terrible virus – and our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those we have lost in 2020 at the hands of COVID-19.
While it has been a hugely demanding year for us, both personally and as a business, I have huge confidence that by next summer we will be on the other side of COVID-19 and have some normality back in our lives. The journey to get to that point won’t be easy; we need to remain resilient and continue to support each other, however, when we get to that point, there will be lots of opportunities that will enable us to thrive as we continue to deliver our growth strategy.
As we head into the festive season, I hope that you all manage to take some much-needed time to relax with loved ones. I know many of you will be working through the holidays but please do take some time out to reflect on what you and your teams have achieved in the past 12 months.
